Good News + Problems!

Hey guys! I'm having a problem, but the good news come first.

Well, I finished the level 10 exercises from the 1st circle with 97%! That's awesome for me, since the first time that I did i could get only 94%!
I sit down calmilly and thought well in every exercise, taking +- 30 seconds/exercise. Also playin' some great games on chess.com, as soon as they finish i'll analyse and post here. The book that Nemo recommended to me is very great! Chess Openings for White, Explained, it's simple, easy to understand and is very fun learn from it.

I'm having too major problems. One is about blogging, sometimes I think that you can't understand what I'm saying, since I didn't studyied english in the 3 past years, or seems that I think that i'm superior to others, like one of my first posts here about Blunderprone's Ice training and my home made chess desk (i wish i had a table). I was reading this post yesterday and looked like i was putting Blunderprone in a down degree, but ice training seems amazing! I tried to use irony... So i'm sorry for the problems that the language put to me.

The other problem is about slow games. I didn't like blitz because I only loose, but a friend told me to play 3 blitz/day to improve (he did that and was brazilian u14 champion). Reading some sites most of coaches recommend slow games, and I prefer to play slow games, but i'm playing to quickly!
I tried to play a 75min game with Fritz, I lost with 68min on clock and Fritz had 54.
It's hard to think for a long time at home, and on internet nobody wants to play with such a time!

Where I can play slow games? Please help me!

P.S.: Now I work as a Chess Teacher for begginers and I'm Couching the UFJF (University) team, it'll be a hard time to do some good work 'cause we'll face some FM's and don't have any rated(FIDE) player. But we'll do our best!

Greetings from Brazil!

Yo! I'm glad you got such a high score on your Level 10 problems! Makes me a little jealous haha. Don't worry so much about your english. I'm American and my english is bad haha. I'm also glad you enjoy the opening book I suggested. I know a lot of players(some Knights even) hate that book, I just think they don't know how to use it properly. I have a lot of good wins against much higher rated opponents due to this book.

Keep up the good work!

Oh! That's strange! I loved this book! lol

I'm swithing back do 1. e4 again, let's see what happens! I wanna win against much higher rated opponents too! haha

Thanks nemo!

Most people believe blitz can hurt your game because of bad habits developed. Openings good for blitz may not work well in slow games. You don't learn how to manage the clock. And you get used to thinking too quickly.

Most people on the internet prefer quick games. Wang from Patzer's Corner found a group that likes slow games, so you may want to ask him for more information.

And...don't worry about the English. You're completely understandable!

Almost forgot...a recent Blue Devil Knight post talks more about why some openings are good for blitz but slow games.

Thanks for the links LEP! It'll be very usefull!

I agree that blitz can hurt your game, this is why i'm searching for slow games. =]

Your english is fine... I'm still wonderign if mine is given I constantly have typo errors.

Nice work on the circles. I'm on a " classic games" kick these days.

Between work and my busy personal life, little time is left for chess blogging. So appologies for not keeping up as often.

On slow versus Blitz. Slow games will help improve your overall playing strength. Blitz has a purpose, its good to practice new openings and look for tactics but it comes with a price. Too much blitz leaves you playing too quickly during the slower game where you want to look for best play.

BlunderProne: Don't worry, i don't have much time to blog too.
Thanks for the tip! ;D
